Description
Strengthens the quality and technical excellence of the Primary English curriculum through curriculum design, technical review, research and evidence-informed improvement. The role contributes to the design and continuous improvement of curriculum, teaching and learning materials, assessment and implementation resources, ensuring coherence, developmental appropriateness and alignment with curriculum expectations.
The role works closely with the Manager – English Design and relevant cross-functional teams to support high-quality curriculum development and effective classroom implementation.
Curriculum Design & Continuous Improvement:
▪ Contribute to curriculum architecture, design and continuous
improvement of Primary English curriculum components in line
with departmental priorities.
▪ Design assigned curriculum products and identify opportunities
to strengthen curriculum coherence and development processes
through evidence-informed recommendations.
▪ Continuously improve curriculum products using implementation feedback, review findings and agreed priorities.
Curriculum Quality & Review:
▪ Lead technical review of teaching and learning materials to
ensure coherence, progression, developmental appropriateness, consistency and alignment with curriculum expectations.
▪ Review and refine assigned curriculum products based on agreed
review processes, quality standards and feedback.
Teaching & Learning Materials:
▪ Contribute to the design and review of Teaching & Learning Materials, Teacher Guides, learner resources and implementation materials.
▪ Develop and refine assigned teaching and learning resources
aligned with curriculum expectations and instructional quality
standards.
▪ Explore opportunities to strengthen classroom delivery through
appropriate digital learning resources and approaches, particularly where teacher availability and capacity may affect implementation.
Research & Evidence:
▪ Lead and contribute to curriculum research, benchmarking and
evidence synthesis to support curriculum improvement and technical decision-making.
▪ Use relevant research, curriculum evidence and implementation
findings to strengthen assigned curriculum products and design decisions.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
▪ Provide technical expertise during cross-functional initiatives and
support curriculum discussions through curriculum interpretation, progression guidance and item-specification inputs where required.
▪ Collaborate with Schools Learning & Development, Assessment
& Evaluation, Secondary Schooling, Technology for Education
and other relevant teams to support effective curriculum implementation.
▪ Provide curriculum clarifications and subject expertise where
required.
Team Leadership/Capability:
▪ Strengthen team capability through technical guidance,
collaborative review, knowledge sharing and modelling effective
curriculum design practices.
▪ Actively participate in peer learning and continuous professional
development while contributing positively to team capability and
shared learning.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of curriculum design, English language pedagogy and instructional design across the pre-primary and primary years.
- Ability to design, review and refine curriculum products and
teaching & learning materials with attention to detail, progression,
developmental appropriateness and alignment with learning
outcomes. - Strong analytical, research, technical writing and communication
skills, with the ability to interpret evidence and translate it into
practical curriculum improvements. - Strong collaboration, organization and facilitation skills, with the
ability to work effectively across teams and manage assigned
deliverables.
Education
BS (4 years) in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, English, Applied
Linguistics or a related field. (Master’s preferred)
Experience
4+ years in curriculum design, curriculum review, quality assurance,
instructional design and/or English language teaching across the pre
primary and primary years.
