Description

The Head of Department – Tertiary & Pathways will lead TCF’s tertiary transition strategy to strengthen student progression from High School to higher education institutions. The role is responsible for driving quality university placements, strengthening institutional partnerships, improving student retention, and ensuring operational excellence across tertiary functions.

This position requires a strategic leader who can combine programmatic depth, partnership management and team leadership to enhance student outcomes while maintaining sustainability and risk controls. This role specifically seeks:

  • A passionate individual driven to see students from underprivileged families succeed.
  • A proactive individual who understands the tertiary setup, and is able to negotiate the best bulk admissions at reduced fee for our students.
  • An individual with a scale-oriented mindset who is able to go beyond Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and open tertiary avenues across Pakistan.
  • Enjoys travel and regularly connects with out-of-station teams.

Required Skills

1. Tertiary Transition & Student Impact

• Lead the design and execution of TCF’s tertiary transition strategy to improve Intermediate to University progression rates.

• Drive quality placements in Tier 1 and Tier 2 universities.

• Oversee awareness and outreach initiatives through a structured School Engagement Plan in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensure strong coordination with Admissions, Counselling, Programs, and Scholarships teams for timely and high-quality execution.

2. Institutional Partnerships

• Develop and sustain long-term partnerships with universities and tertiary institutions.

• Facilitate student admissions, fee concessions, scholarships, and institutional collaborations.

3. Student Retention & Financial Risk Management

• Monitor tertiary retention trends.

• Implement early-warning systems and interventions to minimize scholarship dropouts.

• Ensure financial exposure from dropouts remains within approved benchmarks.

4. Process Excellence & Governance

• Review and strengthen existing tertiary processes to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.

• Develop SOPs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks for transition, retention, and performance monitoring.

• Drive accountability and cross-functional alignment within the team.

5. Data & Research

• Compile, analyze, and report data to support scholarship and alumni initiatives.

• Conduct research to design and implement interventions for alumni career, personality, and socio-emotional development.

6. Team Leadership & People Development

• Lead and mentor the tertiary team to ensure performance, engagement, and professional growth.

• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Education

Master’s degree in Education, Management, Public Policy, or related discipline.

Experience

6 - 8 years of relevant experience in education programs, tertiary administration, partnerships, or transition programming, with demonstrated leadership experience.
