TCF is starting development for grade 6-8 resources. The English Specialist is required to develop and review high-quality English language teaching and learning resources for these grades. The role will involve writing of chapters, lesson plans, including audio-visual materials and technology-enabled learning solutions, story boarding and working with graphic designers.

Other responsibilities of the role include developing and reviewing curriculum content, syllabus plans, assessments, conduct relevant research, review and evaluate resources, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that materials are pedagogically sound, engaging, age-appropriate, and aligned with intended learning outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and review Secondary English curriculum materials, including learning outcomes, syllabus plans, scope and sequence, and curriculum documents.
• Research and develop concepts for chapters and units, using relevant learner needs, curriculum requirements, EFL practices and available evidence to inform content and learning experiences.
• Write and review English learning content, including chapters, lessons, activities, examples, exercises and supporting materials, ensuring they are accurate, age-appropriate and aligned with learning outcomes.
• Develop and review lesson plans and Teacher Guides, providing clear teaching steps, pedagogical guidance, differentiation and classroom support.
• Develop storyboards and content briefs for audio-visual and technology-enabled learning resources, and work with graphic designers and other specialists to develop the final resources.
• Identify, adapt and develop supplementary learning resources, including audio-visual materials, digital activities and other tools that enhance student engagement and learning.
• Conduct and apply research on English language teaching, learning, assessment and resource development to inform content decisions and improve concepts and materials.
• Evaluate existing curriculum materials and resources using research, user feedback and implementation evidence, and recommend specific improvements.
• Collaborate with curriculum, assessment, teacher training, research, design and technology teams to ensure resources are pedagogically sound, engaging, consistent and fit for purpose.
• Participate in classroom observations, school visits and other field activities to gather insights that inform curriculum and resource development.
• Prepare project documentation and manage assigned deliverables, including content plans, reports and presentations, ensuring quality, consistency and timely completion.
• Review English assessment papers and other assessment materials to ensure that they are appropriate, accurate and aligned with the intended learning outcomes.

• Good knowledge of English language instruction approaches, particularly for EFL based on CEFR.
• Understanding of teaching methods, learning approaches and assessment practices for English.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Demonstrate design thinking and the ability to create clear, age-appropriate Secondary learning content and resources that foster meaningful student engagement and joyful learning.
• Ability to review and enhance curriculum and teaching materials through constructive feedback and collaboration.
• Ability to research, analyse and organise relevant information to inform improvements.
• Good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with different teams and stakeholders.
• Good digital proficiency, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint), AI chatbots, and relevant digital applications and tools.

Bachelor’s degree (preferably English Language, Literature or Linguistics).
English language teaching qualifications such as TEFL or TESOL will be an advantage.

2-3 years in Secondary (age 11-15 Y) English Language teaching, training or curriculum development.
Experience in developing or reviewing teaching and learning materials will be an advantage.
